Our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Melbourne is for aspiring yoga teachers, as well as for dedicated students wanting to deepen their knowledge and experience of the practice.

At Light Space Yoga our vision is to bring yoga to everyone in a caring and inclusive way,  with the deep wisdom and knowledge from the ancient Vedas and texts. And it is from a deep love of yoga and the benefits of the practice that we have developed our 200 hour yoga teacher training course that integrates the ancient teachings with a modern and authentic approach.

Whether you plan to teach yoga or have a desire to dive deeper into your own personal practice and learn more, our yoga teacher training has been designed to be an uplifting experience of wisdom, inspiration, and knowledge.  

Our Yoga Alliance Internal Registry accredited course includes philosophy, asana, sequencing, pranayama, anatomy, ayurveda, prenatal yoga, and meditation.

ACCREDITATION AND GRADUATION

In our comprehensive, immersive 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Melbourne you’ll live and breathe yoga, and learn from our most senior yoga teachers who bring more than 5,000 hours of training, and decades of teaching experience combined.

To graduate from the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training you will complete:

  • 7 face-to-face immersive weekends
  • Online lectures watched in your own time
  • Practical assessments
  • Homework assignments on specific course content
  • Final written examination

This course is fully accredited worldwide with Yoga Alliance International Registry.

THE DATES

Our course is part time over a 5-month period, with a hybrid of in-person weekend monthly immersions and online lectures. The training has been mindfully designed to fit with your life and other commitments, and includes:

  • seven in-person weekends (Saturday and Sunday – 9am to 6.30pm);
  • online lectures which are pre-recorded and are to be watched in your own time in preparation for the upcoming weekend immersions over the 5 month course; and
  • at-home study, homework, and class tasks.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

Our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training course is for aspiring yoga teachers, as well as for dedicated students wanting to deepen their knowledge and experience of the practice. And previous graduates of this course have been both…certain they wish to be a qualified yoga teacher, and also those who have commenced with the knowing that they are embarking on this journey purely for their own personal growth and learning.

THE VENUE

The course will take place at ‘White Space Yoga’ in Camberwell.

ATTENDANCE

In order to receive your 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate, you are required to be present for all sessions and yoga classes. If you do need to miss one session you may be able to make up the hours with homework but this is confirmed on a case by case basis and is not encouraged.

OUT OF CONTACT HOURS WORK

Each week you will receive homework and tasks. The estimated hours of study outside of the contact hours are approximately 2 hours per week, in addition to practicing at least one studio yoga class per week.

FAQs about the Yoga Teacher Training

A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place in the training. If you need to cancel your enrolment, the following cancellation policy applies:

• 60 days or more before the course start date: You can choose to receive a 75% refund of course fees paid (excluding the $500 deposit), or transfer the full amount paid (excluding the deposit) to a future Light Space Yoga Teacher Training commencing within 18 months.
• 30–59 days before the course start date: You can choose to receive a 50% refund of course fees paid (excluding the $500 deposit), or transfer the full amount paid (excluding the deposit) to a future Light Space Yoga Teacher Training commencing within 18 months.
• Less than 30 days before the course start date: No refund is available, however the full amount paid (excluding the $500 deposit) can be transferred to a future Light Space Yoga Teacher Training commencing within 18 months.

A consistent yoga practice leading up to the course is recommended. But you do not need have an advanced asana practice, and we welcome students of all levels and all walks of life to join us for our yoga teacher training course. Your ability on the mat is not what matters, but rather your commitment to the course during the training to allow you to absorb as much as possible and to be consistent and dedicated in your approach. This is just the beginning of your journey, and we are there to support you every step of the way.

That’s great! Our course has been designed for those who want to deepen their practice and immerse themselves in the wisdom of yoga, as well as for those students who wish to teach yoga.

Many of our past graduates applied for our training with no intention to teach and got so much out of the course from a personal perspective. Our 200hr training is perfect for those who want to delve deeper into the study of yoga, and to deepen their own practice and experience.

Yes! With the successful completion of all the requirements of the program, including contact hours, homework, practise and exams, you will receive your certificate of completion (with our course being accredited by Yoga Alliance International Registry).

In order to receive your 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate, you are required to be present for all sessions. However we understand that life happens, and we are there to support you. If you do need to miss a session you may be able to make up the hours with homework (this is confirmed on a case-by-case basis). We also have a buddy system from day one of the course, so that you are supported with further notes and support.

There are 3 required texts that you need to purchase before the start of the course. These texts are generally available on Amazon, Book Depository, some bookshops (e.g. Theosophical Bookshop Russell Street Melbourne CBD).

At the end of each weekend immersion you will receive homework and tasks. The estimated hours of study outside of the contact hours are approximately 2 hours per week, in addition to practicing at least one in-studio yoga class per week. 

You don’t need to worry! Yoga is not about standing on your head or touching your toes. But we understand that it can be nerve-racking to embark on a training like this.

You don’t need to be flexible, strong, or have an advanced yoga practice. You just need to have a desire to learn and immerse yourself in yoga.

Susan

Susan is an experienced Master Yoga Teacher with over 15 years of teaching and thousands of hours of practice. As a lifelong yogi and passionate student, Susan mentors with reverence, offering support and insight.

Susan will share tips and techniques gained from years of teaching. Together, you will uncover your unique gifts as a teacher, work through perceived obstacles, and refine your skills so you can teach with confidence and authenticity.

Clare

Clare is the co-founder of Light Space Yoga. In 2009, whilst still working in a full-time Marketing Manager role at Adidas, she embarked on a 350 hour teacher training with the Australian Yoga Academy, with her Mother, Susan. After the birth of her first child in 2012, with her husband and her Mother by her side, they opened their first Light Space Yoga studio in Balwyn, followed by Mitcham in 2014, and Ivanhoe in 2016.

Clare is a proud Mum of 4 beautiful boys, and is passionate about the impact that yoga can bring to your life, and to the people closest to you. Clare believes that yoga can change how you move through life – how you parent, how you respond to challenges and stresses, and even how you experience joy.

As a passionate and dedicated teacher, Clare has been honoured to learn from world renowned mentors and teachers, and has enjoyed immersions with Sean Corne, Tiffany Cruikshank, Tara Judelle, and Bryan Kest.

In our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, Clare will lead you in the Prenatal module and the Business of Yoga module.

Lisa

Lisa is an incredibly experienced yoga teacher with thousands of hours of study and training since 1998. Lisa’s love of yoga was born in her late twenties after meeting an inspiring meditation master visiting from USA.  The flame of recognition of a greater purpose for life was kindled, embarking her on a pilgrimage to India to intensively study philosophy and yogic scripture, meditation and chanting, karma yoga and hatha yoga.  She has had the privilege of studying and training with many inspiring local and international teachers from a diverse range of yogic styles and traditions including Tara Judelle, Amy Ipolitti, Ross Rayburn, Lois Nesbitt, Sean Corne, and Sarah Powers.

She is so delighted and inspired to share her love of and passion for yoga through the Light Space Yoga Teacher Training program. Lisa will lead you in the Philosophy module of our 200 Hour Teacher Training.

Mimi

Mimi is a passionate and experienced yoga teacher with over 11 years of full-time teaching under her belt. Since embarking on her yoga journey, she has developed a deep love for the practice, finding joy in the challenges of inversions and arm balances—skills that symbolize her approach to life: embracing both the highs and lows with grace and resilience.

As a lead teacher in yoga teacher training programs, Mimi is dedicated to guiding and inspiring aspiring yogis, sharing not just techniques but also the profound philosophies that underpin the practice. Her classes are infused with warmth, authenticity, and a sense of playfulness, encouraging students to explore their own potential and connect with their bodies in meaningful ways.

Beyond the mat, Mimi is an advocate for navigating life’s twists and turns through mindfulness and self-awareness. She loves sharing her experiences – both the triumphs and the challenges – with her community, fostering connections that inspire growth and transformation.
Mimi believes that yoga is a powerful tool for self-discovery, and she is committed to sharing its life-changing gifts with all who seek it.

Grace

Grace was a doctor, long before she was a yoga teacher. After graduating from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (M.B.B.S), she practiced medicine as a Career Medical Officer for 8 years. Yoga principles had always been a part of her life, having been brought up in a Buddhist family, Grace learnt Vipassana and Metta meditation since she was 3 years old.

In 2015, Grace decided to pursue Yoga Teacher Training to deepen her self practice, in which she completed 350 hours with a Diploma of Yoga and Health Science. Grace has also trained in Universal Yoga with Will Lau, Kids Yoga Teacher Training with Zenergy Yoga, and Post Natal Yoga Training with Bliss Baby.

Grace approaches yoga with respect, love and scientific enquiry. Grace will lead the Physiology and Anatomy components of our 200 Hour Teacher Training.
